1820's Marigold Ball Gown

Has anyone seen this dress from Vintage Textile? I am in love! If I had not firmly decided on the 1820's as my very favorite fashion era before this time, this dress would definitely have decided for me! Can you imagine wearing such an exquisite piece?!

I'm trying very hard to remember that "thou shalt not covet".

Love,
Sarah

  1. Do you look good in yellow? It would be lovely for you if that was a flattering color on you. I would personally like it for me were it a deeper color and if the neckline was higher! I know what you mean about coveting, lol!

  2. Oh it's beautiful!!! I love the puffed sleeves - it makes me think of Anne of Green Gables and her love of Puffed Sleeves. I even love the colour - so sunny and bright!

If anyone can recreate this, it is you!!! You have the talent.

  4. Yellow is one of those odd colors. If it is a light, clear yellow or even a bright yellow I can get away with it, but anything remote mustardy makes me look horrendous. :)

What I really like is the overall style and the lines and the trim and the hem padding and the sleeves. I'm thinking of doing the same style but in a plain cotton instead, just to see how it looks. Someday I'll get silk and make a real ballgown!

  6. It's beautiful! It reminds me of Louisa May Alcott's An Old Fashioned Girl. (Please tell me you've read it!)

I hope you eventually make one similar. :-)

  9. Wow, that dress is so vibrant and pretty! I once made a CW dress in a bright yellow silk like that. I can't fit in it now, though. ::sigh:: I can't wait to see what you do with this style/pattern. :)
